Janet Richardson has been designing and making jewellery for over 35 years. She has appeared in such publications as Vogue and Craft and Design magazine and The Contemporary Decorative Arts book, and exhibited around the world, from Goldsmiths Fair in London to The Westminster Gallery in Boston USA.
Janet ran her business in London at 401½ Studios and Rotherhithe, Hope and Sufferance Wharf, for 10 years before moving to Berkshire and becoming the Jeweller in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell. There Janet transformed the jewellery and silversmithing facilities and teaching programme into the thriving hub for metalwork they are today.
Janet now runs her own termly classes at The Oakwood Centre, Woodley, and at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead. She continues to make her own work and add to her repertoire of skills, including precious metal clay, wire wrapping and fold forming.
As well an Arts Degree from the Sheffield City Polytechnic, Janet holds a City and Guilds Certificate in Jewellery - Advanced Craft from The Metropolitan University, a Diploma in Precious Metal Clay from The Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Henley College. She lives and works in Wokingham.
